Drums
Mark McLean began his career as a gifted classical pianist at age nine, by fourteen he had started a second career playing the drums. By eighteen, the drums eclipsed the piano as Mark’s voice for musical expression and it wasn’t long before Mark was playing with fellow Canadian and jazz icon, Oscar Peterson. Mark moved to New York City in 1999 with a grant from the Canada Council of the Arts. He began study with jazz drummer Kenny Washington and was immediately seduced by the drive and energy of the city’s thriving jazz scene.
Mark’s reputation as a superb musician resulted in calls from various top talents such as singer and pianist Andy Bey who describes Mark as ‘an intelligent, immensely talented young musician with a curious mind and a listening ear’. The next call was from saxophonist Dewey Redman and soon there were performances with Diana Krall, Jimmy Webb, Glen Campbell, Carla Cook, Joe Sample, Andy Ezrin, Patti Austin, the Backstreet Boys, Quincy Jones and others. Recording highlights include Gladys Knight, Linda Eder, Andy Bey, Peter Cincotti, Andrea Bocelli, Serena Ryder, and Jane Bunnett. Said legendary producer Phil Ramone following a recording session with Billy Joel; ‘Mark McLean is a tasty, sure handed drummer, a song man’s musician.’

Piano, Vocals
Vivacious, compelling, dynamic, and gifted in all things music, Lisa MacDougal has taken center stage after years of supporting the east coast music industry from behind the scenes. Taking us on a genre crossing journey of human emotion via her truly unique voice and magical way with keyboards of all kinds, Lisa’s debut CD only begins to tell her story. ‘Turnaround’ is a long overdue musical event featuring her own original material alongside some soulful jazz and blues interpretations.
The truth is you would be hard pressed to find a major east coast release that doesn’t feature her contributions. In the late 80s she joined Rita McNeil as back up vocalist and toured The US, Australia and the UK, while also serving as musical director for the successful CBC television production ‘Rita and Friends’. Touring with the legendary Roger Whittaker followed before she took off on her own with her solo debut and a season performing in Tokyo, Japan.
In 2001 Lisa was honored with two east Coast Music Award nominations – Best New Artist and Best Blues Artists of The Year. She was asked to perform at the ECMA’s as part of CBC’s national broadcast of a tribute to Anne Murray. Lisa assumed the task of music director for this segment as well. Her strong direction and musicality made her a natural as music and vocal director for the Neptune Theatre in Halifax. Starting with a powerful production of Jesus Christ Superstar, she went on to successful runs with The Buddy Holly Story, Chicago, Evita, Beauty and the Beast, The Rocky Horror Show and more.
Back to center stage, in 2003 Lisa headlined alongside Canada’s prime minister of Blues Dutch Mason with the Symphony of Nova Scotia at the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium in Halifax – the show was sold out and blues history was made. It's 2007 and Lisa is hard at work on her next offering; a live recording that showcases her dynamic musicianship and unforgettable voice. In the meantime you can catch her playing piano and providing background vocals for good friend and Canadian jazz great Molly Johnson while she tours France and Canada.
